LEAH KOISA: TEAM ANGAZA 2023-2026

“My part in helping [create] these changes in the society and community is to work tirelessly as a Team Angaza to offer guidance and counseling for both women and girls to ensure they are exercising their education rights.”

Leah is our hard charging Team Angaza for Ilkerin Primary. Last term she enrolled over 100 out-of-school children in schools across the Ilkerin region of Loita, enrolling for Ilkerin Comprehensive Primary School, Baata Primary School, Osukunua Primary School and Hope Osiligi, Kursas, Mother Teresa Academy, Nkewuan, Olamunyani, and Parkereyian ECDs (preschools).

Leah graduated from Maasai Girls Secondary Boarding school and hopes to pursue a certificate diploma in Social Work and Community Development in college once her volunteer stint as a Team Angaza is completed. She has two children, Rowlince Kolian (4.5 years) and Aiden Mayiani, aged 2, pictured at right in 2024. Leah loves being part of Team Angaza because she wants to help empower girls and promote their rights and work for positive change in her community. She hopes that in the future, all Maasai girls can avoid early marriage and have access to an education, and to stop experiencing harm from the traditional practice of FGM. Of her role as a Team Angaza volunteer, she says: “My part in helping [create] these changes in the society and community is to work tirelessly as a Team Angaza to offer guidance and counseling for both women and girls to ensure they are exercising their education rights.”
