We reconnected 20 eighth grade students from Maasai Academy to their lessons during Kenya’s extensive school closures in 2020. The Maasai Academy started in 2010 when the RedTribe organization partnered with a tiny school started in an old wooden church by a handful of Maasai parents in a community in the southern Loita Hills. At the time, school lunch was cooked on an open fire outside. Today there are nine classrooms, a kitchen and 230 children attending school, and the RedTribe is currently building a girls’ dormitory so they may open a boarding secondary school.
