MORIJO PRIMARY SCHOOL

With several shops and a small clinic, Morijo is one of the larger villages in the Loita Hills region. We opened our first day secondary school in Morijo in January 2020 with eight girls and ten boys. When COVID-school closures shut down the doors just two months later, we connected over forty 8th grade students from Morijo Primary to their lessons so they could continue to study for their secondary school entrance exams.

The first cohort at Morijo Secondary returned to the classroom in 2021 to finish their year and are now finishing their senior year. The new day school ensures that promising students like Nashipae, who was the top student in her class and is pictured at right with her baby Sasha, continue to have an opportunity to stay in high school.
