YOU MADE THE DIFFERENCE…

You made the difference. In 2020, you helped reconnect nearly 400 hundred students in remote Maasai communities to their education during COVID-school closures by funding the launch of an offline learning program using tablets and an app called Kolibri. The program became a lifeline that kept young Maasai students connected to school and learning. Ultimately, this program became COVID’s silver lining in the region we serve, providing access to engaging interactive digital content and tech skills which teachers and students in the remote Loita Hills region have rarely, if ever, previously had access to.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception from teachers and students to this tablet program, we're now working with schools to continue and expand this new digital learning opportunity as we return to our core programs in 2021. And thanks to the efforts of over 90 young people in the U.S. and Kenya on GivingTuesday last December, we were not only able to return to those core programs but to scale them to some of the most marginalized villages in the Loita Hills this year though the expansion of intern and program staff in Kenya. This talented new crew is helping us enroll even more children into primary school and pick up where we left off with two communities to open what will become just the 2nd and 3rd affordable day secondary schools across the entire 646-square-mile region of the Loita Hills, opening up new opportunities for hundreds and hundreds of young Maasai students to continue their educations.

You can learn more about these new schools and the powerful impact they'll have on countless young lives in our 2020 Annual Report. To learn more about the new and deeply talented staff who are helping change lives for the better in Kenya, click here.

Asante (thank you) from the bottom of our hearts, for the support you’ve given, and continue to give, to support this work!
