Video for Change
Last year we piloted a small Participatory Video (PV) project, teaching the basics of video to our staff in Loita. Thanks to the support of the Alexandra Storm Foundation, we've been able to expand this project this year, hiring a local young Maasai woman named Joy Nchoe to coordinate the program. Tanzanian wildlife filmmaker Erica Rugabandana, pictured at left guiding Joy through her first interview, has been training Joy in documentary video and editing so she'll be able to implement PV projects with both in-school and out-of-school girls across the Olderkesi region starting in November. Our goal is to leverage the unique potential of collaborative video production to amplify the voices of Maasai girls; equip them with tangible new skills; and spark new ideas about their value within their communities.
