  1. GO TO give.forthegood.org/sparkgood

  2. CLICK on the blue “BECOME A FUNDRAISER” button. Click "As an Individual", “Create a Team”, or “Join a Team”, depending on whether you want to fund raise on your own or ask others to join a larger collaborative effort. Then click "CREATE AN ACCOUNT." Type in your email, and then a name when prompted.

  3. PERSONALIZE YOUR PAGE! Classy will then guide you through the steps of creating a page; you can find and follow the steps here.
-For the Campaign End Date, we recommend keeping it open.
-For your Custom URL, we suggest something short with your name that will go after the backslash of give.forthegood.org/__. The URL for our office canine Kaia’s fundraising page is a good example: give.forthegood.org/KaiaGives.

  4. NEED SOME CAMPAIGN PHOTOS AND WORDS?! You can find them through this link. NOTE! BE SURE to attribute these photos, if you use them, to photographer Ami Vitale - (@amivitale on Instagram). Photo titles that start with “2022” should be attributed to Kate Lapides-Black (@katelapides on Instagram).

  5. NEED TO MAKE EDITS to your page? Click the "Manage" button in the upper right. Click the “DETAILS” tab to add your photo and personal URL; click the “STORY” tab to write or edit your campaign story. Be sure to save your edits by clicking the "Save" button lower right!

  6. PROMOTE AND SHARE YOUR PAGE to friends and family! You can share directly to email, Twitter or Facebook from your page- look for the icons below the header photo.

  7. MAKE A POWERFUL DIFFERENCE for many many girls in Kenya through all your hard work!

CRAFTING A SHORT VIDEO FOR YOUR PAGE

A short video is a great way to promote your campaign. Imperfections make your video authentic or can be edited out so please don’t strive for perfection!

A great and short script is to start by saying your name and age in a full sentence. Follow that up with a brief sentence or two sharing why you think it’s so important that everyone, no matter their circumstance, be able to go to school.

A Few Tips for Video Shooting:

· NARRATIVE: Respond in a full sentence that mirrors the question so we can edit out the original question, ie: say all the words “I think it’s important for all children to have the opportunity to go to school because…..(fill in your answer here)”

· FRAMING: Shoot horizontally, not vertically!

· LIGHT: Try to set up your video so light falls on your face or your friend’s face, not behind them! Side light falling on a face from a window can be lovely (but don’t get too much of the window itself in! Soft outdoor light in open shade is beautiful too.

· SOUND: Try to find a place without a lot of background noise. Wind can be surprisingly noisy!

We recently shot a video for a young fundraiser the other day and it took just a few minutes to record her audio- plus some time at home to put together the rest of the video. See the edited version here.
If you would like us to fit your personal video into a similar beginning and ending as the video above, email Kate at kate@forthegood.org.

PHOTOS AND ASSETS FOR INSTAGRAM!

Visual imagery is powerful and a compelling way to tell the story of girls’ challenges and dreams across the world.

We’ve dropped a collection of photos and other assets you can download to use on your social media feeds, emails and other outreach into a Google Drive folder. You can access these assets through this link. Having troubles accessing the assets? Reach out to For the Good’s Communicaitons Director, Kate Lapides-Black, at kate@forthegood.org. A few helpful notes when sharing this fundraising campaign on Instagram:

  • ACTIVATE A LINK TO YOUR PAGE IN YOUR IG BIO! People are more likely to donate when they can do so in one step from the same page. Once you’ve customized your personal URL through the DETAILS tab in your Fundraiser page, be sure to add it to your Instagram Bio. If you need instructions on how to do so, you can find them here.

  • ATTRIBUTE PHOTOS! All photos in this folder with the exception of the handful whose titles start with “2022” were taken by the awesome National Geographic photographer Ami Vitale on a recent trip to Kenya with Kayce. Please attribute them to Ami anywhere you use them by writingPhoto: Ami Vitale” and tagging with her handle - @amivitale- on Instagram. Thank you!
